Expert Coach Bio- Devan McConnell
Devan McConnell is the Director of Sports Performance at UMass Lowell. At Lowell, Coach McConnell is directly responsible for all aspects of performance enhancement for the hockey team, including speed, strength, power, nutrition, and recovery.
Prior to his time at UMass Lowell, Devan was a Sports Performance Coach at Stanford University. At Stanford, he oversaw the development of the Men's and Women's Volleyball programs, as well as the Women's Basketball team.
A native of Seattle, Devan attended college outside Boston at Fitchburg State College, where he was a collegiate hockey player. After receiving his degree in Exercise Science in 2008, he worked at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, one of the premier private strength and conditioning facilities in America.
In addition to his time coaching at both Stanford and in the Boston area, Devan has also spent time with the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks of the NHL. He holds several certifications, including the Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM-CES), and Functional Movement Screen certified level 1 and 2.
